Cozy Plaids For Fall & Winter

Let’s go mad for paid!
I love the way plaid fabric makes you feel all warm and cozy. A nice warm fire with a comfy plaid blanket and cozy pillows, curl up and read your favorite book.....awwww. Nothing screams winter more than plaid.

It is a timeless fashion that is easy to use as an accessory to your daily fashion, for just a pop of color or for a classic piece. However, it can be tricky when wearing it, so here are a few ideas to help you get started.

Couple of guidelines:
Don't wear big plaids on your lower half if you are voluptuous, choose a plaid that is smaller and more streamline to the appearance.

Voluptuous does not mean that you cannot wear plaid, like the age old tale, you just have to be more inventive.
Skinny plaid pants are not good for the voluptuous gals, these are great for the smaller gals.
A plaid top is great on everyone, but keep it to a minimum if you are a voluptuous gal, check out the pictures below for inspiration.

Let's look at some fun accessories. A plaid bag is a great addition to maybe some skinny jeans with riding boots a plaid shirt with an accent bag.
Plaid shoes are great with skinny jeans, a long jacket or cardigan. Remember, if you are voluptuous on the bottom you can get away with skinny jeans or pants as long as you cover the butt area, this can be very slimming.
A plaid scarf is great with say some Spanx cord leggings with a white button down top and a camel collar blazer and riding boots.
Take a peek at this great video for scarf ideas

There are endless possibilities, you could pair a plaid coat with your favorite leaopard flats or heels. Just remember to wear mostly solid colors and then add your pop of plaid.

Black leggings or a black skirt on the bottom half with a fun jacket on the top is perfect for the voluptuous bottom. If you are smaller on the bottom, wear some skinny plaid pants with a black or brown button down top. Add a bag to a simple dress and you have a very tailored look.

Add a scarf to a simple dress, jeans or with shorts and tights. The possibilities are mind blowing.

Knee High Boots

Is the fall fashion knee high boots scaring you?  It is easy to be intimidated by these boots. Here are some fashion tips for Fall knee high boots. These boots are very versatile, and will go with items already in your wardrobe. Pointy toe knee high boots are perfect with your skinny jeans. Spike heels make them dramatic, but can still be ready wear for a casual day. Add a blazer or fur scarf and you have an easy night time look.

For a more casual look the suede knee high boots are perfect. These are great with leggings or jeggins. Pair this ensemble with a large bag and you are ready to go shopping. These suede knee high boots can also be paired with some tights and shorts or a mini.                             Add socks to any over the calf high boots and they have the look of over the knee or knee high. Great for a first date to the movies or out for a fall picnic.

Keep in mind this fashion tip when shopping for your boot. A pointed toe will elongate your legs and make you look thinner, always a nice thing! These are great if you are more petite.

Stylish Eve
Choose a high heel so that you are taller and more slimming. A spiked heel will add even more visual to your height. A chunky heel is fun, more playful, these are good for more slender legs, they will add a little weight on the bottom though.

What about age you might ask? Am I too old for knee high boots? According to Vogue and Marie Claire, you are not too old for these great boots. When paired with the right outfit, being age approiate, they are perfect for any woman wanting to add a little kick to her style.

Fashion Nails In A Snap!

So I went to a fashion party this weekend, and my nails were scary! Until I accomplished the above photo.
Just kidding, this is from New York Fashion Week.  Remember this video back in the days when Lee had press on nails? Did I just give away my age?! A girl never tells, but I can say I do remember them.

Anyways, I have not had the time to do my nails for a while. Luckily in my little stash of fashion junk drawer, I have nail stuff! My favorite quickie is ImPress nails. Similar to Lee Press on nails, but now they are so much easier, stay on longer and many more choices of colors.

They were perfect for the event so I did a ghoulish spider.
Broadway Limited Edition

So here’s what’s so great about ImPress nails. You can choose the length you want, long, medium or short, I like the short since I type so much. Then you can choose the colors you want for the event you are off to.
Alcohol Wipe & File
So you can do these in less than 10 minutes! Do them in the car on the way (if you're not driving) just sand down the little sharp jaggedly edges your nail might have, with the nail file included. Then and this is VERY important, use the alcohol wipe that is included to clean every one of your nails.

Then you choose the size for your ImPress nail, peel the clear back and press onto the nail. Here is a video that is helpful.

A couple of keys to remember:
1. The round tab on the end goes towards the bed of the nail
2. Press towards your cuticle so it goes back a little and then press down.
WALA, you have beautiful nails.
They last for me about one week, for my mom she can make them last two weeks, but I am hard on my nails. If they get a little loose I use a little dab of nail glue to press them back on.

Now to get them off…You can soak them in fingernail polish remover, lift at one edge or squeeze edges of your nail bed together to give a little lift.

Or get your hands really warm and wet, softens the skin and helps to get them off too, and is a good excuse for a bath and alone time!
Hope you have fun with them, I do, and let me know what you think. There are so many options once you start using these, but that's another day.
Happy nail hunting.

Let’s start with the Rain Boot. You might also know these as Wellies, Puddle Jumpers or Gum Boots. I have worn some Rain Boots in the past and find them very uncomfortable. They are too stiff for me. The reason for the stiffness of this type of Rain Boot is they are typically made from resin. I like Rain Boots made from rubber, but some are made from animals skins, so I always make sure I know for sure what my boots are made of. My top pick for the Rain Boots are the ones made with PVC rubber. I find them to be very comfy, durable and very stylish.
